What if I can’t afford therapy?
Our primary mission is to ensure that mental health support is accessible to everyone. Region Five crisis services, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and our Crisis Receiving Centers, provide support regardless of your insurance status or ability to pay. For ongoing therapy, your local CSB offers services on a sliding fee scale based on your income and household size to make care affordable.
What should I expect when I call the crisis line?
When you call (757) 656-7755 (or 988 from inside our geographical region), you will be connected with a trained, compassionate clinician who will listen and provide immediate emotional support. However, our care doesn’t end when the call does. Through our Crisis Care Navigation service, a dedicated Navigator will follow up with you to ensure you have everything you need for the next step—whether that’s connecting you to same-day mental health services, local private providers, or community resources like food banks. We are here to advocate for you long after the initial crisis.
