Service Member, Veterans and Family Support

Our SMVF Program provides support, resources and community to military members, service veterans and their families.

Whether you have been in the service for a lifetime, or just starting out, the SMVF team is dedicated to serving your needs.

Our team members are made up of veterans from all military branches so there will always be someone who understands your struggles and can help you create a clear path to where you want to go.

Transition Support

We take transition support very seriously. It is, apart from deciding to join the service, the biggest decision you will make; and it is scary. Life outside is not structured, there are not the same rules and it may seem like all of your experience doesn’t even matter. But we can help.

Region Five will give you a soft place to land after, and during your separation process.

Transition is easier when you start as early as possible, so even if you are over a year out please contact our team to get started.

Vocational Specialist

Finding a new job and understanding how employment works in the civilian world is one of the number one things most veterans struggle with. We will connect you with services that foster workforce participation, job readiness, and job opportunities to maximize income and thereby increasing financial stability and overall well-being.

Job Coaching

Job coaching covers the practical struggles of finding a job on the outside. This service veterans assistance with resume writing, job search, job interviewing, and job skill development.

Peer Support

In the service, you have a ready-made community but on the outside, you may feel alone and lost. Our Peer Support program is a team of veterans trained in peer support with similar lived experiences related to suicide or mental health. You are not alone.

Mental Health Support

Region Five’s SMVF program is designed to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive behavioral health and supportive services that are high quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and accessible. Your local SMVF Navigator will make sure that you experience quality public behavioral health services across the Commonwealth.

Case Management

Provides referrals for health care services, daily living services, personal financial planning services, transportation services, income support services, fiduciary and representative payee services, legal services, childcare services and housing counseling.

Training Facilitator
