Traumatic Brain Injury Program

An important aspect of awareness and treatment is education.

Brain Injury Rehabilitation Support Team (BIRST) is a community-based support program. BIRST serves individuals with Brain Injuries, Neurocognitive Disorders (NCD), and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Mental Health Services Provided:

  • Mental Health Skill Building: support with daily routines and skills that strengthen stability and wellness
  • Case Management: linkage to services and supports
  • Medication Education: when and how to take your medication, and how to identify side effects
  • Outpatient Therapy: mental health counseling
  • Regional Trainings: for individuals, caregivers, community members, and professionals

Individuals must meet all of the following admission criteria:

  • Be a resident of the Region Five service area
  • Be eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • Have a diagnosis of a Brain Injury or severe PTSD
