Sharde’ O’Rourke is a licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and licensed substance abuse treatment practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience and a deep-rooted commitment to culturally responsive care. She is the founder and CEO of The Mahogany Projek, a SWaM-certified mental health and wellness practice that provides therapy, supervision, and trauma-informed training across Virginia. As the creator of Unburdened: The Reclamation Theory, Sharde’ helps individuals reclaim identity, voice, and confidence through intentional healing practices. Her work integrates narrative, trauma, and cultural frameworks to challenge internalized systems of oppression and restore connection to self. She also leads Barefoot Academy, where she trains clinicians and supervisors in ethical, reflective, and relational approaches to professional development.
Known for her bold, grounded, and affirming teaching style, Sharde’ is a published author of over nine books, an adjunct professor, and a passionate advocate for wellness access through both in-person programming and tech-based tools. Her practice has served justice-involved populations, veterans, and underserved communities throughout Hampton Roads. Whether leading workshops on supervision, trauma recovery, or identity work, Sharde’ brings a rare blend of realness, expertise, and compassion; empowering providers to grow personally and professionally without abandoning who they are.
