Join us for a weekly series packed full of information, resources and tips. Learn from WTCSB clinicians and get support from fellow parents.

Children welcome, supervision will be provided.

Date: Starting June 22nd, 2023 and reoccurring every Thursday for five weeks.
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Smithfield Mental Health Center – 1801 S. Church St Smithfield, VA 23430

This is a five week session: four weeks of education followed by a support group on the fifth week.

Week 1: Adolescent Development /Identity – Is my kid’s behavior “normal” or should I be concerned? What’s really going on in their brain?

Week 2: Suicide – What should I look for? What puts my kid at risk? What should I do if I am worried about their behavior?

Week 3: Substance Abuse – What are the kids doing? How would I know if my kid is using drugs or alcohol? Where can I get help?

Week 4: Stress Reduction/Parenting tips – How can I take care of my own mental well being when I have so many other things to do?

Week 5: Support group: Building a strong Parent/Guardian Community – Come together with fellow parents, share your successes and worries and find like-minded parents.

Dinner will be provided for week 5.
