BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center (Hampton-Newport News)

The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center is expanding walk-in access for adults experiencing a crisis related to mental health, substance use, or co-occurring concerns. Individuals will receive an initial needs assessment and then be offered recommendations and treatment options, which may include community resources, outpatient referrals, or center-based programming when appropriate.

Walk-in hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm, 7 days a week
Planned expansion to 24/7 access in 2026

Services Include:

  • Rapid crisis assessment to evaluate immediate needs.
  • Crisis intervention to de-escalate and manage symptoms.
  • Care coordination to connect individuals with ongoing support.
  • Peer recovery services offering lived-experience support.
  • Skill restoration to help regain coping and functional abilities.
  • Health literacy education to improve understanding of mental health.
  • Linkage and referrals to community resources or higher levels of care as needed.
  • Psychiatric Evaluation and prescription if recommended.
